Our learner-centred experiences place your children at the centre, focusing on their overall development using a competency model. Our goal is to equip them with essential skills and competencies that empower them to flourish in the modern world.
In addition to building strong foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, language, science and social studies, we prioritise developing communication, creativity, problem-solving and collaboration - all crucial skills for thriving in an ever-changing world.
Learning is transdisciplinary
Learning is real-world orientated
Learning is self-directed
Learning is passion-inspired
The importance of these human-centred skills is emphasised in the World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report (2023). The report shows these are the most in-demand skills for employers, and this demand is only set to grow. Below you will find further information about our learning approach and some of the key differences compared to traditional school.
One of the significant differences you and your child will notice is that Learning Guides take on a different role than traditional teachers.
Rather than instructing, they mentor and guide your child to support and empower them on their personal learning journey. Developing meaningful positive relationships is a crucial aspect of this, and research shows this is a critical foundation for enabling deep learning.
At Learnlife, we guide learners in developing meaningful, transferable skills through our Competency Framework, which is organized into five interconnected learning domains. Each domain supports different dimensions of growth, helping learners become more self-aware, collaborative, curious, and capable contributors to their world.
1. Learning to Be: Encourages learners to build a strong sense of self, well-being, and values.
2. Learning to Learn: Develops the habits and mindset of a self-directed, reflective learner.
3. Learning to Think: Fosters curiosity and intellectual engagement across disciplines.
4. Learning to Relate: Supports communication, empathy, and connection in a multilingual, multicultural world.
5. Learning to Act: Empowers learners to take meaningful, responsible action in their communities and beyond.
How it works?
Each domain is composed of specific competencies that the learner develops during their time with us. These competencies remain the same across all programs. What changes are the skills that make up each competency, as they align with the focus areas and growth goals of each program.
We measure learner growth using a competency model that focuses on the outputs (artifacts) of learning. This approach encourages learner accountability and self-reflection and provides frequent opportunities for instant, real-time feedback. Our approach empowers learners to take an active role in reflecting on their learning and growth, which studies indicate has the greatest impact on promoting effective learning.
Your child's mentor will evaluate their progress in these competencies on their Learning Vitae (LV) throughout the year. The Learning Vitae is a dynamic tool that empowers learners to showcase their growth, skills, and achievements. This platform allows them to curate a personalized profile, which they are encouraged to update regularly. The Learning Vitae is shared with you at the end of every cycle, after the learners' 360s.
At Eco Hub, we believe that meaningful learning involves both self-reflection and shared perspective. That’s why we hold 360s—collaborative conversations where learners, Learning Guides, and families come together to reflect on the learner’s journey.
During a 360, the learner takes an active role in sharing their growth, challenges, and goals across our five learning domains. It’s a moment to celebrate progress, name areas for development, and strengthen the partnership between home and Hub.
These conversations are a cornerstone of our approach—grounded in trust, transparency, and the belief that learning is a shared, evolving process.
Our Showcase provides an opportunity to celebrate learner success and for your child to showcase their work to the whole Learnlife community.
All parents, learners, Learning Guides and the wider Learnlife team are invited to attend this event, and learners can choose to showcase and answer questions about their work in an interactive setting..
At the end of the showcase is our Show-show. Here learners take to the stage to perform or speak about their work in front of the whole Learnlife community.
This is a fantastic event that not only celebrates success but encourages personal growth for learners who may never have presented or performed in front of an audience before.
