Dear Eco Hub Families,
Welcome to the first edition of our newsletter for this academic year! Since beginning on September 3rd, we’ve already launched into our Building Blocks and topics, and the learners are hands-on with their explorations. We’re excited to share some highlights with you—enjoy the read!
During learners’ onboarding week (September 3–10), they participated in a variety of activities to get to know each other and build group cohesion. This week also served as an introduction to the Building Blocks and an opportunity to establish routines.
We would like to highlight the incredible teamwork shown by each program during Imagine. Using natural resources from around the Hub, the learners created unique symbols for their programs: the Adventurers made a totem, the Discoverers crafted a group banner, and the Pioneers designed 3D letters spelling out “Pioneers.”
Adventurers' totem:
Lion-Jellyfish-Peacock
Discoverers' team:
Group banner
Pioneers' 3D letters
All Building Blocks are now underway with their topics and projects as part of Sprint 1 —our four-week cycles dedicated to specific themes or projects. In the following link, you will find an overview of all our Building Blocks and their outputs for cycle 1 For more detailed updates, remember to check the weekly Learning Highlights, shared every Friday by your program Leads via email.
At the start of the year, our learners and Learning Guides co-created our Community Standards—shared agreements designed to foster a happy and supportive environment. These are:
We’re excited to announce our second Colònies retreat (outdoor learning) from November 19–21! This experience is primarily for Discoverers and Pioneers, though Year 2 Adventurers are welcome to join if they feel ready. The retreat is optional, with an estimated cost of 275€ per learner, depending on the final number of participants.
All details can be found in this document. Please confirm your learner’s participation by Friday, October 3rd via this form. If we do not hear from you by then, we will assume your learner will not be attending.
At the Hub, we encourage families and learners to bring healthy snacks and meals, such as fruit, nuts, grains, and vegetables. We strongly recommend avoiding foods high in sugar or low in nutritional value to support learners in taking care of their minds and bodies.
We also have a no-sharing food policy. Beyond allergy considerations, we explain to learners that the snacks and lunches you provide are specifically for them. We appreciate your support in reinforcing this message.
We have noticed some learners bringing money to the Hub. Please be reminded that learners should not bring money unless the Hub has communicated a specific need to parents in advance. At this time, there are no events requiring learners to bring money. Thank you for your cooperation.
Thank you for ensuring that learners arrive by 08:50, so they are ready to start Real Talk promptly at 09:00. Your support helps us minimize interruptions once the session begins and makes it easier for your learner(s) to transition smoothly into the morning. We really appreciate it!
We celebrate our diverse community! If you'd like to share your cultural traditions or holidays with the community, please reach out to Guille to organize a moment for this.
Join us on October 2nd at 6:00 pm for our very first joint Parent Learning Module. This virtual experience enables us to connect families from all three Hubs.
This interactive module is designed to give parents a closer look at how your child’s learning journey is designed, supported and documented at Learnlife. Together, we’ll explore:
Our competency framework
How we design and document learning in ways that go beyond traditional grades
The tools we use to gather and track evidence of growth
How the Learning Vitae showcases each learner’s unique story and strengths
How today’s learning connects to future opportunities and pathways
We want this session to be meaningful for you, so if you’d like to share questions in advance, please use this link by September 30th. Parent Learning Modules are highly recommended so we hope to see you there!
