Dear Families,
Time flies when you are having fun! In this edition of the Urban Hub newsletter we bring you news, reminders and some pictures and videos of the Cycle 2 Intensives!
We had a particularly successful edition of Intensives, with learners going to Rwanda to experience the trip of a lifetime, a runway edition of the Fashion intensive, Carts racing, foods from around the world, buildings sketching and wellbeing musts...
Without further ado, here we go!
We ask that ALL learners bring the following items each day:
- A pencil case with pen, pencil, a calculator, etc
- A notebook
For Explorers Lit Cafe learners will be asked to bring an audiobook, eBook or physical book to read.
Please, make sure your learner brings this next Thursday, April 4th, so they can start reading (or listening) to their book. This cycle, Lit Cafe will focus on reading, telling stories, and sharing with peers.
Mark your calendars! The next two parent workshops hosted by our well-being lead, Suzanne, have been scheduled.
Nurturing Emotional Regulation Skills in Children
Thursday, April 24 @ 9:15: Eco Hub
Raising Leaders: Cultivating Resilience and Leadership in Children and Adolescents
Wednesday, May 15 @ 17:30: Urban Hub (and online)
In Cycle 3, Devin and Laura will co-lead a building block dedicated to co-creating a tech policy for the Urban Hub.
We will examine academic research on the impact of tech on learning and well-being. If you know anyone who is an expert in the field--psychologists who work with teens, neuroscientists who study the impact of tech on the brain, technologists who understand how tech is designed to be addictive, et. al.--and who would be willing to join one of our debates, can you please put them in contact with Devin (devin@learnlife.com). Thank you
Coming down from our high of the Sustain event raising over 1,500 euros to secure 6 water tanks systems to the community in Eswatini we are now looking towards moving onto the next cycle!
This cycle is all about exploration & connection, to keep growing a more sustainable community and impact globally.
Some of the projects we have lined up are working with Lilima Montessori High in Eswatini, Africa through a collaborative music project.
Setting up our very own precious plastics lab in the Urban Hub together with a local maker space, a multi-studio of visual arts meets multimedia, circus camp for sports and creating your own website - just to name a few.
We are always open to community members showcasing skills and workshops, so reach out if you have a creative skill to share with us!
Registrations for Summer Camp 2024 are now open! We are partnering with FUNdamentales, a local company that provides sports activities to schools at Castelldefels and also is our Multisport afterschool programme facilitator. We believe this collaboration will enrich the summer experience for your kids even more.
This year, the camp will take place only at the Eco Hub, allowing us to make the most of the beachfront location.
We have expanded the age range to include older kids up to 13 years old.

We had a great time last Friday during the mini-talent show that took place at the UH to close off the cycle.
We are very proud of all the participants and of the whole community for showing them so much respect and appreciation.
We also wanted to congratulate Keanu Villatoro, Lucas Hellin for transitioning to Creators and Jago Bashky for transitioning to Changemakers!
All the best,
