Dear Parents and Families,
Thank you for being here! It’s hard to believe that it’s already the end of June and the conclusion of our first year at the Village Hub. This year has been an opportunity to come together to build a community and we are so very grateful that you have been a part of this journey. We are already looking forward to the coming year and our team is working to build on our successes, reflect on opportunities, and continue to strengthen our Village. Next year will also bring some changes. Alena from the EcoHub will join our team as the Hub Lead, Kris and Paula will continue as Learning Guides, and we are expanding our Primary Years program. This also means that with these staffing changes, Michalis will be moving onto new opportunities and new adventures and not returning in September. We want to take this opportunity to thank him for his contributions over the course of the year and wish him all the best in his new endeavors.
This cycle learners have worked together, engaged in a variety of hands-on activities, and contributed to our experience in the hub. As part of Express, learners worked in teams to research, design, build, document, and market a parkour experience. Their work will continue to be an important part of the hub for both current and future learners. Further engaging design and carpentry skills in their Passion Projects, a group of learners created a bike stand for everyone at the hub to use. Another group added to the physical activity opportunities for all learners. In Human Systems, learners engaged with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Our Math Carnival at the Eco Hub strengthened our connection with the broader Learnlife community.
These experiences support the further development of skills and competencies across communication, literacy, numeracy, and systems thinking. In the coming year, as we continue to review studio experiences, space design, the use of technology to support and document learning, as well as the ideas of learners and their families, expect to hear more about how what we do at the Hub can engage sustainable social entrepreneurship and broader community participation. And as our space continues to evolve into the summer, we look forward to your ongoing partnership and collaboration.
On behalf of the entire Village Hub community, we wish you a restful summer break and look forward to welcoming learners and their families back for the first day on Wednesday, September 3rd.
Thank you,
The Village Hub Team
Dear Village Hub Families,
Welcome to our new Village Hub Family Website! This is a digital space to share information, stay connected, and keep up to date about everything that is happening at our hub. Moving forward, this will replace our Village Vine weekly newsletter communication with a monthly overview that will be posted here at the end of each month. However, you will still receive important updates and information by email as necessary. We are looking forward to adding to this site together as our community grows.
Warmly,
Kris & The Village Hub Team

New Director of Learnlife Hubs
We are excited to welcome Leigh Fitzgerald for a visit to Barcelona the first week in May. We invite parents to join us for informal meet & greets in each location. Leigh and her family will officially relocate this summer, with Leigh's start date at Learnlife in mid-August.

We are excited to welcome Cycle 3, the sun and the warmer weather it brings. Please remind your learner to bring a water bottle, to wear sunscreen and a hat for sun protection. This will be especially important as we spend more time outdoors engaged in building blocks, learning experiences, and physical activity.
Our space continues to evolve! Learners have been busy gardening on our rooftop terrace and have worked together to install a new basketball hoop. Learners will be working with one another to set up our new 3D printer as part of our marker space studio.

Updates
We have updated our bring your own device policy to ensure that all learners at the Village Hub are able to responsibly and safely use those devices.
For learners who bring their own devices, here’s what you need to know:
All devices need to be approved by the mentor of the learner as safe for appropriate usage. Safe and appropriate usage means:
Learners’ browsers must allow them to safely surf the internet. They will need to have installed child protection software and/or use child safe browsers. Chrome, Safari and other browsers’ safety settings are insufficient protections. See our recommendations below.
Learners always need parental consent to download apps.
The family and the learner take full responsibility for the device and the content accessed thereon. Further, they take responsibility for any content that is shared with other learners on that device.
Learnlife accepts no responsibility for lost, stolen or damaged devices.
The device is only used for learning purposes, and is only used with learning guide permission and supervision. Devices are stored away when they are not being used.
If a learner’s device or usage of that device does not follow the above expectations, the learning guide will take the device until the end of the day and a conversation with parents will need to happen.
Some child safety apps for devices on the market. We strongly encourage you to test the device after the app is installed to ensure that it is able to provide a safe experience for your learner.
