Dear Eco Hub families,
January welcomed us back with rainy days, muddy shoes, and the gentle rhythm of settling again into learning and community after the holiday break. It has also been a month marked by anticipation, as we awaited important news about the future of the Eco Hub. We are happy to share that January ends with positive news: the Eco Hub will continue running its primary years program. What felt uncertain just a few weeks ago has become possible thanks to the incredible commitment of our community—especially the families and Working Group who stepped forward with energy, trust, and collaboration.
Thank you for your trust, involvement, and belief in this project. We look forward to celebrating this milestone together very soon and continuing to build a thriving Eco Hub for our children.
Warmly,
The Eco Hub Team
All Building Blocks have begun their topics and projects as part of Sprint 4 (our four/five-week periods focused on specific themes or projects).
Below is a brief overview of our exploratory Building Blocks for Cycle 2. As always, you can follow weekly updates in the Learning Highlights, sent every Friday by your Program Leads via email.
As part of the Pioneers’ Explora big question, “How can we co-create an excellent learning space?”, the Pioneers travelled to the Village Hub to reflect on how different spaces influence how we think, feel, and learn. They gathered real-world inspiration for the learning spaces they will design as part of their outputs. It was also a great opportunity to rethink spaces together and to get to know the Village Hub, its learning environments, and its learners.
We had the pleasure of hosting two Urban Hub learners this month, who joined us on different days as part of their Rite of Passage as they transitioned from one program to another at Urban Hub. Sophie supported us for three days, and Sai facilitated dance workshops during Mind & Body Gym.
Thank you all for sharing your energy and talents with our community!
Another connection between the two Hubs this month came through the Pioneers program visiting the Urban Hub to get a first-hand experience of its spaces and community. Year 2 Pioneers will continue these interactions as part of their transitioning process (more info below!).
As we start cycle 2, our Year 2 Pioneers are preparing for their transitioning process that will end in cycle 3! To support this transition, the Learning Team has designed a structured plan outlining key milestones, guidelines, and important dates.
If you’re interested in this process, you can find the information in the following link, as well as the informative session we held for Year 2 Pioneer families.
Thanks to the generosity of our Eco Hub families, the gifts collected through our toy drive were donated to the Tata Inti Foundation. This initiative helped ensure that the children of female prisoners at Wad-Ras prison in Barcelona received a Christmas gift. We are deeply grateful to all the families who participated by donating new or gently loved toys!
Based on learners’ feedback, Dosa Nova has created a new structure for their monthly menus, with an additional meat day and even more local and international dishes for the kids to enjoy. Please find in this link a special offer and February’s menu with the new structure that consists in:
Meatless Monday
Travel Tuesday – World cuisine
Catalan Wednesday – Traditional & popular dishes
Try-it Thursday – New flavours
Fun Food Friday
We’re excited to announce that Anouk and Kyra will be joining the Eco Hub as interns! They come to us from NHL University (Netherlands) and will be part of the Eco Hub team from 21st February through 22nd May. During this time, they’ll be learning alongside our community and contributing to Eco Hub life and projects. We’re very happy to welcome them and look forward to the energy, curiosity, and perspectives they’ll bring. You can find a brief introduction from each of them below.
Hi everyone,
My name is Anouk Nijland, I am 25 years old and I am from The Netherlands. I am currently in my fourth year, studying International Teacher Education for primary schools at NHL Stenden, university of applied sciences located in Meppel, The Netherlands. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, cooking, reading, and being creative.
From mid-February onwards, I will start my internship as a student teacher at Learnlife. I am thrilled to be joining your child’s class as a student teacher for the upcoming twelve weeks and become a part of their learning process, but also to learn from them.

If you can help, please reach out to me (Claire Guerin), and I’ll add you to the planning group. Many thanks! 🙏🏼
In our third interactive learning module, families explored some of the latest research and findings on how to intentionally integrate emergent technology into learning and life. We also saw how intentional integration of technology can enhance the learning experience in partnership with the play-based, human focused, inquiry approach that we value at Learnlife.
