Dear Eco Hub families,
As December arrives, we come together to celebrate the end of a rich and meaningful learning cycle. Over the past weeks, we have wrapped up the cycle, shared our first learner showcase of the year, and completed our first round of 360 reflections—important moments that highlight growth, effort, and connection across our community. This time invites us to recognise how far our learners have come, and celebrate the curiosity, resilience, and collaboration that have shaped this cycle. In this newsletter, we’re excited to share some of those moments and the joy of closing this cycle together.
Wishing you a lovely, relaxing and fun break.
Warmly,
The Eco Hub Team
As part of their Explora project, our Pioneers led a food collection initiative that truly reflects learning in action and care for the wider community. Thanks to their organisation, communication, and commitment—and the generosity of our families—we collected a total of 127,75 kg of food, our highest amount ever. Both Banc dels Aliments and Càritas were delighted and came to collect all the donations, sharing their appreciation for the learners’ effort and impact. We are incredibly proud of the Pioneers for turning learning into meaningful action and showing what collective responsibility can look like in practice!
This cycle, we completed our first round of 360 reflections of the academic year, a milestone that gave learners, Learning Guides, and families the opportunity to look closely at growth, strengths, and next steps. Through this process, learners reflected on their achievements, challenges, and the ways they’ve contributed to the community, while Learning Guides and families offered insights that celebrate progress and support continued development. The 360s not only provide a clear picture of each learner’s journey but also strengthen the connection between home and Hub, reinforcing a shared commitment to growth, curiosity, and self-awareness.
Our first Showcase of the year was an inspiring celebration of curiosity, creativity, and collaboration. Learners shared the projects, discoveries, and learning journeys they’ve been engaged in this cycle, giving families and peers a window into their growth and achievements. From stories to STEAM challenges, the Showcase highlighted not only what learners have accomplished but also how they’ve developed skills like problem-solving, teamwork, and self-expression. It was a joyful moment for our community to come together, celebrate learning, and recognize the effort and passion that each learner brings to their journey. Special thank you to our Parent Hub for organizing an amazing potluck!
Our Secret Santa celebration brought joy, laughter, and a touch of mystery to the final weeks of the cycle. Learners embraced the fun of thinking of their peers and creating something handcrafted. Beyond the gifts, Secret Santa encouraged kindness, empathy, and connection within our community, reminding us all that the holiday spirit is about thoughtfulness and celebrating one another. It was a heartwarming way to close the cycle together, spreading cheer and fostering a sense of belonging.
Our Tió de Nadal tradition brought excitement and festive spirit to the first weeks of December. Learners took care of the Tió, feeding it and preparing it for the big day, eagerly anticipating the moment when, as the tradition says, they would sing the song and gently hit the log. The celebration was full of laughter and joy as the Tió “pooped” gifts for everyone, creating magical moments that connected learners to this cherished Catalan custom. It was a wonderful way to share community, anticipation, and holiday cheer together.
On the last day of the cycle, our learners brought festive cheer to the local retirement community Torre Marina by performing Christmas carols. With voices full of joy and energy, they shared the spirit of the season, spreading warmth, smiles, and a sense of connection across generations. It was a heartwarming reminder of the power of music to bring people together and brighten the holiday season.
Even during the holidays, there are plenty of ways for learners to keep engaging with learning in fun and meaningful ways. Daily reading practice and journaling help maintain literacy skills and encourage reflection. For families with learners in the non-native Spanish groups, tools like Duolingo or Lingokids are great for short daily practice, and simple activities such as having brief conversations in Spanish, labeling household items, exploring bilingual books or simple stories, or listening to Spanish music and age-appropriate podcasts can support vocabulary, pronunciation, and comprehension. Adventurers can continue with letter formation and daily reading, while learners in Mathlab can use the Innovamat app at home to keep building their math skills. These small, consistent practices help learners stay curious and confident over the holidays.

Dear Parents,
We would like to extend a big thank you for this past year of catering. We are happy to support you in this daily task and to nourish your children with balanced, freshly made meals. It has been wonderful to hear the children’s feedback, which the on-site team — much love to them all — shares with us every day.
For the coming year, we hope even more children will have access to flavourful lunches. To make this possible, we are happy to offer one free token to each child who hasn’t tried our food yet. Claim yours with Lila at 676 511 892.
Thank you for a colourful year, and we look forward to seeing you again in January for many more to come!
