Dear Eco Hub Families,
As the seasons begin to shift and autumn settles in, October brings with it a sense of rhythm and purpose in our learning community. The first weeks together have laid a foundation of connection, curiosity, and growth, and now we are diving deeper into meaningful learning experiences. From hands-on projects to outdoor explorations, collaborative adventures, and moments of self-discovery, our learners are finding their voice and building confidence day by day.
Last week, our Wordshop English Group A set off on an autumn hike to gather inspiration for our poetry sprint. Learners took part in a nature scavenger hunt, searching for signs that autumn had arrived — from colourful leaves and mushrooms to acorns and pine cones. Along the way, they tuned into their senses, noting the sights, sounds, textures, and scents of the season. They returned to the Hub with pockets full of natural treasures and minds full of ideas, ready to transform their experiences into autumn-inspired poetry.
As part of Explora’s big question, “Are we what we eat?”, the Adventurers explored family food traditions by discovering recipes connected to their cultures. A special thank-you to Yaya, Anna, Yvelisse, Piotr, Laura, and Eileen for generously sharing your recipes and stories with us!
We had the pleasure of welcoming Ashley and Trace Owens to join us during Pioneers’ Real Talk session, where they led an engaging workshop on first aid and how to respond in an emergency. Thank you both for sharing your expertise with us!
In our previous newsletter, we invited anyone interested in sharing their cultural celebrations. A big thank-you to Beibei and her mother for joining us during Mind & Body Gym and leading a fun and engaging Taiji session! If you would like to share your celebrations with us, please reach out!
As every year, our Autumn Festivity was a fantastic success! Learners rotated through a variety of themed stations and activities, enjoying witches, castanyera, zombies, pumpkins, and plenty of candy. A HUGE thank-you to our Parent Hub for making this amazing event possible!
We are excited to share that, in addition to Colònies (19–21 November) and the Acacias trip (19 November), learners will also enjoy two whole Hub trips this month:
4 November – Agro-Environmental Space in Viladecans
A Whole Hub learning experience connected to our Explora theme on food systems and sustainability.
12 November – Estany de l’Olla
A Whole Hub nature exploration linked to our Connect theme on biology and the study of animal habitats.
More details and logistics for each trip will be shared shortly. We look forward to these meaningful learning experiences in nature!
Please note that during Colònies trip (19/11 - 21/11) afterschool programs won’t be running.
Join us for our next Parent Coffee session on November 7th at 9:30am (in person). Together, we’ll explore how to avoid jumping to conclusions when your learner shares their version of a story.
In this interactive workshop, we will:
Practice strategies for active and empathetic listening
Learn how to explore multiple perspectives in a situation
Understand how to respond without assumptions
Support learners in reflecting thoughtfully on challenges or conflicts
This session will be especially helpful as we prepare for Colònies, where learners will navigate new social dynamics and independence—but the tools we’ll explore are valuable for every family.
We’ll wrap up with a Q&A to address any questions you may have about Colònies or supporting your learner at home.
We’re thrilled to share that Michelle is getting married! Please make sure to congratulate her when you see her — we’re all so excited for this special moment in her life. To celebrate her marriage, she will be away from November 21st to December 5th. During her absence, Emma will be stepping in as the Adventurers Lead to ensure continuity and keep programs running smoothly.
Here are some key dates to keep in mind:
November 3: Hub closed
November 4: Whole Hub Trip - Agro-Environmental Space
November 7: Parent Coffee 9:30am (in person)
November 10: Sprint 3 starts
