Dear Eco Hub families,
Welcome to our June newsletter, and the final edition of the 2025–26 academic year. As we reflect on the past months, we are filled with gratitude for the learning, growth, connections, and memorable experiences we have shared as a community. This month has been a particularly special one, with celebrations that marked important milestones, including our Showcase Talent Show and the graduation of our Pioneers. We hope you enjoy this final look back before we head into a well-deserved summer break.
Warmly,
The Eco Hub Team
We recently enjoyed a wonderful whole-Hub trip to Tibidabo, a special day out that brought together learners and team members from across all groups to celebrate community, joy, and connection. The day was not only full of fun, laughter, and shared adventure, but also marked an important milestone for our Eco Hub. We celebrated the achievement of keeping the Hub open and thriving thanks to the commitment and collaboration of our entire community. It was also a particularly meaningful moment as we recognised the very first cohort of Adventurers who have now completed their journey and graduated as second-year Pioneers.
Our Pioneers Graduation celebrations were a wonderful way to mark the end of an important chapter and celebrate all that our learners have achieved. On the first day, we gathered with families for a heartfelt graduation ceremony, reflecting on memories, growth, and the unique contributions each Pioneer has made to our community. The celebration continued with a family potluck, bringing everyone together to share food. Special thanks to those families who organized it and created a beautiful evening.
The following day was packed with adventure and fun. The Pioneers enjoyed an exciting trip to PortAventura, creating lasting memories together before returning to the Hub for a refreshing swim and a special sleepover. Filled with laughter, connection, and celebration, these two days were a fitting send-off for a remarkable group of learners as they prepare for their next journey.
This month’s Showcase Talent Show was a truly special event, filled with creativity, courage, and heart. Our learners amazed us with an incredible variety of performances and unique talents that reflected their individuality and passions. It was inspiring to see so many learners step outside their comfort zones, support one another, and celebrate each other's achievements. The atmosphere was full of excitement, pride, and emotion, making it a memorable experience for everyone who attended. Thank you to all the performers, families, and team members who helped make this celebration of talent such a success.
Dear Families,
As I reflect on my first year, I want to thank you for welcoming me into the community and for your support, openness, and commitment to Learnlife.
Watching your children grow this year inspires me. I couldn’t be prouder of the love of learning, resilience, and confidence I see every day in our Hubs. While we have three distinct Hubs, we are one Learnlife, and together, we move forward.
Halfway to our €500k family contribution goal
Together, we've raised €250,000 of our €500,000 family contribution goal. This means we’re halfway towards our family contribution goal. It is a fantastic achievement in such a short time. Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far.
71 of our families have responded to the family contribution survey. If you’ve been meaning to give but haven’t completed the survey, now is a good moment before you head into summer for a relaxing break.
Every contribution goes directly to our Hubs, helps us towards our sustainability goal, and reduces reliance on external investment. You can complete the survey here.
I'll send you a short update every two weeks so you can see exactly where we are.
Have a wonderful summer.
Leigh
As we come to the end of another year together, we are excited to share updates to the Eco Hub team constellation for next year.
We are delighted to welcome back Pau Tavella following her maternity leave. Pau will continue leading the Adventurers program, bringing her warmth, experience, and passion for learning to our youngest learners.
We are also excited to share that Kris Rakuc will be leading the Discoverers program next year. Kris has already built strong relationships within our community, and we know the Discoverers will thrive under his guidance.
Michelle Bazán will be guiding our Pioneers program, supporting our oldest learners as they continue to grow in independence, confidence, and purpose.
Emma Wilson, Jo Holland and Matt Knowles will continue with their roles.
Another change is that Michalis Leontides will be moving into a full-time role as Learning Guide Assistant.
As many of you know, Alex Denham will take on the role of Eco Hub Lead in August. I am incredibly excited for him as he steps into this position and wish him every success. To ensure a smooth transition, I’m committed to supporting Alex through the transition and helping with the handover.
We would also like to acknowledge and thank several team members as they move on to new chapters.
Andrew O’Riordan will be continuing his learning journey at Urban Hub. We thank him for this year of passion, energy and storytelling, and we wish him all the best in this exciting next step.
Daniela Porta, who has been supporting us after Violeta’s departure earlier this year, will be concluding her time with us. We are grateful for her contribution and commitment to our learners and community.
And lastly, John Hughes will also be moving on to pursue new adventures. We thank him for the passion, care, and dedication he has shown to our learners all these years and wish him every success.
As we look ahead to next year, we are filled with optimism and excitement. We are confident that the year ahead will bring new opportunities for learning, growth, connection, and discovery for all of our learners and families. On behalf of all the team, we would like to thank you for your trust and support, as we continue to build a beautiful community.
A reminder that we shared some months ago our 2026/27 calendar with our community. This will help you plan ahead and stay connected to key dates, learning cycles, and important moments throughout the year.
As summer unfolds, we invite learners to rest, explore, and follow their curiosities, to not stop learning. On this note, we've put together a short list of optional summer recommendations. No pressure, just suggestions for those moments when they feel like diving into something new, or just reviewing skills from this year. We’d love to hear what they discover along the way!
As we come to the end of another incredible year at the Eco Hub, we would love to hear your feedback. Your insights, reflections, and suggestions help us celebrate what is working well and identify opportunities to continue growing and improving. Whether it is about your learner’s experience, our learning programmes, communication, community events, or any other aspect of Hub life, your voice is invaluable. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and for being an important part of our learning community.
